INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION AND WOMEN SYMPOSIUM
“BEING A WOMAN BETWEEN BORDERS”
Bursa as a place to host the symposium prepared within the framework of December 18 – International Migrants Day, is as a city that has received and keeps receiving migration from the Balkans, Middle East and the Caucasus. The history and social structure of Bursa itself is a good empirical example to observe the effects of migration. Hence we would welcome proposals that study international migration and women by evaluating general situation in Turkey and its neighbourhood. Selected articles will be published as book chapters in an edited volume. Along with the symposium a story and photograph exhibition from researcher/ author Gökhan Duman’s archive will open and which is about the working class migration from Turkey after 1950s.
